  2. I thought Columbus Day was a government/bank holiday. Don’t daycares know not everyone gets that day off?

  3. Thankfully, I noticed the sign on the way out of the daycare on Friday. Still, having the boy at work with me this morning was…less than productive.

  4. Ane had school and Tad had his speech therapy appointment. So, life went on normally here despite the holiday. I want to know how come I couldn’t get the day off from being mommy!!

  5. Nope, as we don’t have that holiday here :)
Although I have asked the preschool for a copy of temr times, then copied it and put the times all over the house. As I know for a fact unless I drill it into my skull, I’ll forget when the holidays are! And I’m not making that walk to school in the rain for nowt!

  6. Here in the People’s Republic of Santa Cruz, we do not take Columbus Day but for those who do have a holiday today it is referred to as Indigenous People’s Day.

So did you take TheMonk and Swee’Pea to work? They could like have totally, crashed the day care at work.

  7. I remember when I was working and told my boss that I had to take Columbus Day off because daycare was closed. He looked at me like I was asking for Arbor Day or something off.

  8. Okay, I can’t laugh because I did that once when my son was in preschool. Ooops. Well, what kind of holiday is Columbus Day anyway. right? No presents. No BBQ’s. No decorations. Nothing memorable about it. :)

  9. Hmm. Strange. Our daycare was open - thank God, because neither my husband or myself had the day off…

    Sheesh.

  13. Nope, you aren’t alone. Although, mine warned me a week in advance though so I had a week to scramble and find a babysitter. I did request a holiday calendar from them. They are also closed on President’s Day (another holiday I don’t get). I saw another Mom on Thursday chewing the director out about how many holidays they take. I don’t mind them getting holidays I know they deserve it but it is hard when neither you or your spouse is off. I am surprised they didn’t warn you. My center puts a sign on the door a week before so you remember.

  14. Nope…can’t join you on that one. Ours follows the public school calendar, and since I had to work, so did they.
