Vegas, Baby!

My wife and I spent Saturday and Sunday in Sin City. We got up before the crack of dawn, met our two friends who had invited us to go and off we went. 5+ hours later we arrived in 100 degree weather. After we settled into our rooms at the Luxor, we decided the best thing to do in 100 degree weather was to go walk around in it. So we strolled The Strip. We got down to the Bellagio and saw it’s awesome flower display and then decided we’d better take a cab back. We didn’t spend more than 10 more minutes outside the rest of the weekend.

Celebrity Sightings.

1) We saw one of the plastic surgeons from Extreme Makeover on ABC. Although we didn’t know that until we asked him, “Where do I recognize you from” He was buying a very expensive Alligator Skin Bag.

2) We saw Matt Millen, General Manager of the Detroit Lions. We were walking into the Bellagio and he was walking out. The great thing about this is that my friend Chris saw him as said, without missing a beat, “Hey, Matt!” He replied, “How’s it going” and continued to walk out the door. Chris’ wife was walking in just as Matt Millen was walking out and heard him reply to the attractive woman he was with, “I don’t know him.”

Could we have made Matt paranoid because he was with a woman he shouldn’t have been with Hmmmmmm

If you ever go to the Luxor, make sure you stay in the pyramid because the elevators are COOL! They go up sideways so the force carries you to the side. Very weird feeling.

Finally, we spent an hour and a half at the Rio waiting in line for their buffet. We spent more time in line than we did eating but that was only because I ran out of room. The food was awesome. You could spend a day on the dessert bar alone.

Now it’s back to reality and eating like a normal person.

Friday Blahs

Today was a slooooow day. It was one of those days where you actually start looking for work to do. My “to do” list was complete, everyone around me had taken today off for the holiday weekend, and I looked for things to do. I cleaned my desk. I rearranged my desk. I contemplated moving my desk. I finally resorted to downloading interesting things to my PDA. I can now give you a great quote on demand

“If A is success in life, then A equals X plus Y plus Z. Work is X; Y is play; and Z is keeping your mouth shut.” – Albert Einstein

My calendar now posts holidays for several different cultures and religions (The Fast of the 17th of Tammuz (!) begins on July 6th and India’s Independence day is August 15th).

And I can now do crosswords anytime I want.

Come to think of it, today was pretty productive after all.
