Language for two

As Swee’Pea and TheMonk continue to expand their vocabulary, they have adopted a phrase that I’m willing to bet most singletons (that’s what us twin parents call those unfortunate enough to be born alone) don’t utter at such an early age. The phase?

My Turn!

Lately, Swee’Pea and TheMonk will announce that it’s their turn whenever they want to do something that the other is doing. Playing with Daddy, going for a swing, getting their omoxycillin… you name it, eventually you will hear, “MY TURN!”

Just one question…

When is it ever my turn?

  1. Dude, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but if my kids are any indication; never.

They use to let me play with their legos with them… not anymore, it’s like I’m a leper.

  2. Here too. My girls started this about 18-20 mos ago, (they are 3yo) and it hasn’t been ANYONE ELSE’S turn for that same amount of time. I don’t imagine that is going to change anytime soon either. ;)

  3. Well, usually, it’s just “Mine!”. Isaac didn’t say it until he heard a slightly older child saying it….and from there it was all down hill.

  4. It’s ALWAYS your turn–
    your turn to swing them
    your turn to feed them
your turn to get them milk
    etc, etc, etc

Mine are very much into the “my turn” thing right now, too.

  6. It won’t be your turn again until they leave the house. And then, for the the love of all that’s holy, you CAN’T let them back in!!!
